Dr. Ball inducted into Hall of Fame

John D. Ball, PhD, Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and Co-Director of the Neuropsychology Center, was recently inducted as a charter member into the Virginia Psychological Foundation (VPA) Hall of Fame.

According to the VPA, the honor was bestowed as a result of his exceptional contributions in the field of psychology, his lifetime achievements as a psychologist, his contributions in service to the community and his innovative application of psychological knowledge.

Dr. Ball is an active research investigator in neuropsychology and clinical psychology and makes research presentations at the state and national levels.

"Dr. Ball is a longstanding member of our department's Hall of Fame, and now we will be forced to share him with the rest of the Commonwealth," says Stephen I. Deutsch, MD, Professor and Chairman of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences. "He has trained graduate students, medical students and fellows in neuropsychology, mentored doctoral dissertations, and conducted and continues to conduct highly regarded original research in this area."

Ronald E. Reeve, PhD, from the University of Virginia, and Robert J. Resnick, PhD, from the Medical College of Virginia, were also inducted into the VPA Hall of Fame.

"I have a deep passion and respect for the work performed by all psychologists. Accordingly, I have been an active member of the Virginia Psychological Association for 30 years," Dr. Ball says. "It is a special thrill that they chose to honor my work in this way."
