Faculty Mentoring Link

Our goal is to support the academic development and advancement of faculty through a school-wide, centrally administered voluntary mentoring program.

What is mentoring?

Mentoring is an impactful relationship between two people, where one, known as the mentor, guides and supports the other, referred to as the mentee, in their personal and professional growth and development. This relationship is built on trust, communication, and mutual respec. The mentor uses their knowledge, experience, and expertise to help the mentee achieve their goals and overcome challenges in their career.

“The delicate balance of mentoring someone is not creating them in your own image, but giving them the opportunity to create themselves.”

Functional Mentoring

The functional mentoring program is guided by a needs assessment and supported by the Mentoring Advisory Group. Teams will meet for 12-months on a defined goal towards an established outcome.

  • Mentees identify their need for mentoring
  • Mentors are recruited based upon their expertise that is needed for the menteeā€™s goal or project
  • The mentoring relationship is focused (not broad) and time limited (not open-ended)

Implementation Plan

The program will launch in phases to allow for the opportunity to incorporate feedback and learnings as the program grows. The initial focus is on junior faculty. As we progress ALL faculty will be invited to join as a mentor or mentee. The full implementation plan will be announced here.
