All applications will be reviewed upon receipt by a joint committee of EVMS and Sentara representatives appointed by the Joint Research Operations Committee under the Joint Planning Commission. Those not meeting the required qualifications will be withdrawn administratively.

Candidate Evaluation: Those candidates considered to be competitive will be invited for an in-person interview.
The interview will consist of four parts:

  • Assessment of the academic potential of the candidate
  • Assessment of the potential for mentor-mentee matching with a Primary Mentor and potential co-Mentors
  • Assessment of the clinical training and skills to determine if the applicant is a good fit to serve as clinical faculty
  • Assessment of alignment with Sentara’s identified therapeutic areas and community needs assessment
