Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine
The Jones Institute has celebrated the births of 4,000 in vitro fertilization (IVF) babies since pioneering IVF in 1978. The facility offers the latest assisted-reproductive technologies such as intracytoplasmic sperm injection, donor eggs, preimplantation genetic diagnosis and preimplantation genetic screening. The Jones Institute is the home base for the Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Fellowship. Fellows conduct research in the Jones Institute laboratory and treat patients at the institute's clinics.
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital
Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, the primary teaching hospital for EVMS, is home to the area's only Level I trauma center and burn trauma unit and the region's premier heart program. Sentara Norfolk General's obstetrics unit has about 700 maternal transports and 3,000 deliveries annually. Fellows assist on the labor and delivery service and sharpen their skills in genital tract surgery and robotic-assisted surgery at this hospital.
