Application Process

Effective October 1, 2017, the Medical Master’s program is now participating in the Post-Baccalaureate Centralized Application Service (PostBacCAS).

Complete and submit the online application along with the $130 application fee no later than June 30 for the fall semester. Admission offers are awarded on a rolling basis as completed applications are reviewed. Application fees are non-refundable, so please check the minimum qualifications before submitting your application. Feel free to call the staff and discuss your credentials if you have questions.

You will be required to submit a secondary application for our program. There is no application fee for the secondary application and you can start it as soon as you have been issued an ID through PostBacCAS.

Information that will be required in the application:

  • Send official transcripts from all colleges or universities attended to the following address:

  • Three letters of recommendation from individuals who can realistically evaluate your abilities and probability of success in the program. At least two of these letters should be from science faculty. (Please call us if you have questions about this requirement.)
    • If your letters are being sent via Interfolio, please email them directly to our admissions department at
    • PostBacCAS requires you to submit at least one letter request in their system in order for your application to be verified.
  • Resume/CV: Please limit to 4 pages or less. Please include the following sections:
    • Volunteer work
    • Clinical shadowing
    • Research
    • Personal hobbies/interests

Be sure to detail the number of hours dedicated to each listed volunteer or clinical shadowing experience per week/month involved.

Please refer to our Medical Master's sample resume for help with formatting suggestions for your experiences. We are not expecting you to have every one of the activities listed in the sample. For instance, you can be a competitive applicant without having research experience. 

  • Two personal statements. Please limit each to 1 single-spaced page or less. 
    • Primary personal statement: Address the topic of how your experiences have contributed to your decision to pursue a career in healthcare.
    • Secondary EVMS personal statement: Address the topics of why you have chosen to apply to a special master’s program, and why you think the EVMS Medical Master’s program is a good fit for you.
  • Test scores: (Please email your AAMC ID and verification code to our admissions department at
    • MCAT - scores no older than January 2016
      • One-year program: Minimum score of 503
      • Two-year program: Minimum score of 496
    • DAT - scores no older than January 2015
      • Academic average minimum score of 18
      • No less than a 17 in any section
    • GRE scores not accepted.
  • Photograph of yourself in professional attire.

PostBacCas Application Fee Waiver

The PostBacCAS Fee Assistance Program is available to qualified applicants on a first come, first served basis. Each fee waiver covers only the initial application fee, so if you wish to apply to additional programs, you are responsible for the remaining balance.
