Many grand rounds educational activities at EVMS are televised live to a wide audience in outlying areas of eastern Virginia, offering health professionals the opportunity to receive continuing professional education and the latest evidence-based medical information, which enhances quality of care.

Televised grand rounds include Internal Medicine, Family & Community Medicine, OB/GYN, Pediatrics, Psychiatry and Surgery (when available for CME). The televised audience has the opportunity to ask the speakers questions during the video stream.

Established in 1998, the telemedicine program is partly funded by the Eastern Virginia Telemedicine Network (EVTN). EVTN is a health professions distance learning, teleconsultation and clinical telemedicine network established by EVMS and the Eastern Shore Rural Health System, Inc., with major funding support provided by the Virginia Health Care Foundation and other institutions.
