Requirements
The Health Sciences Academy partners with Portsmouth, Chesapeake and Northampton County Public Schools. Twenty to 25 students are accepted for this four-year pipeline program.
Students are encouraged to apply to the academy during the spring semester of their ninth-grade year (with some exceptions). Accepted students participate in an introductory health professions curriculum during their tenth-grade year.
The recruitment and application process is primarily overseen by the partnering school. Please reach out to the point of contact at your school for additional information.
Schools require applicants to:
- Be in good academic and attendance standing.
- Complete the application form.
- Submit a Health Sciences Academy Essay Form.
- Provide a Health Sciences Academy Recommendation Form from a teacher.
Chesapeake Public Schools students who are already participating in an academy program are not eligible to apply for the EVMS Health Sciences Academy.
