A Physical Exam Teaching Associate (PETA) is a standardized patient who has received intensive training (40 to 80 hours) in the proper technique for conducting a physical examination. You will work with a PETA who will instruct and guide you on the techniques in the Bates text, using their own bodies as a model. They are certified by EVMS faculty.
