Fellows talk with Dr. Elias Siraj, Chief of EVMS Endocrine & Metabolic Disorders

Endocrinology, Diabetes and Metabolism Fellowship

Train with renowned endocrinologists to provide compassionate and evidence-based care.

What sets us apart?

Our fellows work closely with award-winning researchers, physicians and leaders in the field at a variety of locations. Become an expert in diagnostic thyroid ultrasonography, fine-needle aspiration and interpretation of bone density studies as you care for patients with Type 1 and 2 diabetes, pituitary, adrenal, thyroid and reproductive diseases, and parathyroid and metabolic bone diseases.

Learn more about our GME programs

Our community-based Graduate Medical Education is one of the nation's few training programs in which all residencies are integrated among a number of hospitals and community clinic settings, instead of one fixed setting such as a university hospital. Our residents work at 14 teaching affiliate hospitals, staffing hospitals 24 hours a day, implementing new treatment methods and conducting research. They see patients from diverse backgrounds and work with community faculty.

Explore our shared campus

One of the benefits of attending EVMS is the close proximity to CHKD and Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. The shared campus gives students access to educational opportunities as well as high-level subspecialty care.

A supportive environment

Work-life balance is important during your fellowship, and we are committed to supporting our fellows throughout their time at EVMS. Through EVMS' Wellness Works program, our residents and fellows receive the same wellness resources as our faculty and staff.

In addition, our Resident Wellness program for residents and fellows gives you access to support groups, after-hours counseling services, running clubs, leadership coaching and more.
