Fellows participate in the following:
- Inpatient endocrine consult service at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital
- Outpatient rotation at the Veterans Hospital endocrine clinic in Hampton, Virginia
- Elective rotations in pediatric endocrinology, reproductive endocrinology, bariatrics and maternal fetal medicine
- Teaching of residents and medical students
- Weekly fellows' continuity clinic
- Thyroid ultrasonography and fine-needle aspiration
- Insulin pump and continuous glucose monitoring
- Bone density interpretation
Other educational activities include:
- Endocrinology Core Lecture Series, a weekly course designed to provide the science and knowledge necessary to practice endocrinology
- Internal Medicine and Endocrinology Grand Rounds
- Outpatient rotation in our endocrinology clinic with faculty
- Weekly endocrine case conferences
- Weekly division journal clubs
- Quarterly pathology and radiology conferences
We encourage fellows to submit and publish abstracts, research manuscripts, case reports and participate in national endocrine meetings.
