Why I Chose EVMS: I chose EVMS because of the ability to learn the breadth of general surgery and to be a competent general surgeon. I wanted a program that would support you if you wish to pursue a fellowship and would also give you the training to feel competent entering practice directly from residency.
Hobbies & Interests: Outside of work, I enjoy traveling (especially skiing!), the beach, running, and trying new restaurants around the area. I particularly like seafood so this is a great place to live. We also have a great craft beer scene around the area. There are also a lot of great roadtrip destinations from Norfolk like Charlottesville, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Shenandoah National Park, and Washington DC–so I try and take advantage when I can.
Interesting Fact: I got engaged to my fiancée on a catamaran in Maui!
