The EVMS Research Society was founded in 2020 with the mission to connect interested students with research opportunities. The Society assists with the entire process of finding a research proposal, exploring funding for personal projects, showcasing research results, and networking with faculty and staff mentors at EVMS.

EVMS Research Society

Education and training

Workshops and seminars offer education and training opportunities and build confidence.

  • Journal Club: a bi-monthly journal club where students can critically review and discuss recent publications in their field of interest. We encourage lively debate and discussions, build camaraderie, and promote networking among the club members.
  • Research Symposia: Our Annual Research Society Conference is a mini-poster session followed by oral presentations where students present their research findings to fellow club members as well as a wider audience, including faculty members, researchers and other healthcare professionals who have been integral in members’ successes throughout their research journey.
Resources and support

Resources for funding opportunities, research facilities, databases and mentorship.

We connect members with the necessary resources and support to facilitate the implementation of their research projects.

Collaboration and networking

Our networking events and social gatherings allow members to build meaningful connections and foster collaborations.

We foster a collaborative community where members can connect with fellow students, faculty, and researchers to exchange ideas, share expertise, and form interdisciplinary research teams.

Club leaders regularly organize social events, such as research club dinners, networking receptions, or team-building activities, to create a relaxed and enjoyable atmosphere for students to interact with each other and with faculty members. These informal gatherings foster a sense of community, facilitate bonding among members, and create opportunities for networking in a more casual setting.

The EVMS Research Society is an expanding network of research-focused resources with the target of connecting interested medical students with research opportunities.

It aims to bridge the gap between students who may or may not know how to design a research proposal, discover funding for personal projects, showcase research results and network with mentors in research.
