Interview Day

The interview is a very important part of the MD application process.  It allows the EVMS MD Admissions Committee to assess an applicant's compassion and dedication to the field of medicine as well as their preparedness for medical education at EVMS.

Additionally, it provides interviewers an opportunity to examine the motivation, sensitivity, cultural awareness, and interpersonal skills of an MD candidate.  The interview helps the MD Admissions Committee see from the applicant’s lens, the understanding of a physician's role and their contribution to health and wellness.

MD Interviews at EVMS

EVMS interviews applicants for the MD program on Wednesdays and Fridays beginning in September and ending in March.

All interviews are held virtually.  EVMS uses BlueJeans for video conferencing.  BlueJeans provides an interoperable cloud-based video conferencing service that connects participants across a wide range of devices and conferencing platforms.  This platform is versatile.

Applicants will be provided a BlueJeans link that will correspond to their interviewers on the designated day and time of their interview.  All applicants must have a working camera or will be asked to reschedule.  If an applicant has to reschedule, EVMS cannot guarantee another interview slot during the time frame or month of your initial interview.  If any participant loses video connection while the interview is in progress,  a call into the interview using the telephone number, meeting ID, and passcode provided is acceptable.  These details are included in all interview confirmations.

Interviews are approximately 30 minutes beginning at 2 PM, 2:45 PM, and 3:30 PM.

Each Wednesday during the interview season, MD candidates scheduled during their designated week -- whether it be on a Wednesday or Friday -- will have an opportunity for a face-to-face engagement with members of the EVMS academic enterprise community via ZOOM.

This may include, but not be limited to the Assistant Vice Dean of Admissions and Enrollment, Director of Admissions, Vice President of Diversity and Inclusion, Assistant Director of Diversity, Assistant Vice Dean of Student Affairs, Director of Student Affairs, Director of Financial Aid and/or currently enrolled EVMS MD students.
