The EVMS Foundation Fund ensures we can meet our most pressing needs, including scholarships, faculty recruitment, technology upgrades, and research equipment. 

Scholarships help ease the financial burden on medical and health professions students. You can choose to give to any of the following funds to make an immediate impact:

Event details

Friday, Oct 18: All Friday evening events will take place in Waitzer Hall on the EVMS campus of Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University.  

3 - 6 pm: Registration
Check-in and say hello to receive your itinerary and gift.

3 - 4 pm: Campus tours 
Choose from three different times to revisit your favorite spots on campus, as well as learn about our newest buildings and programs.

4:30 - 5:45 pm: Student Clubs & Alumni Mixer
Revisit your favorite student club and hear from students about their current activities. Student affairs and admissions program updates will also be provided.

6- 7:30 pm: Welcome Reception
Officially kick off the weekend by joining fellow alumni, faculty and administration to enjoy music and mingling over heavy hors d‘ouevres and refreshments. 

Saturday, Oct 19: Saturday events will take place in Waitzer Hall on the EVMS campus of Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University, unless otherwise noted.

8:30 - 11 am: Registration
Check-in and say hello to receive your itinerary and gift.

9 - 10 am: State of the School Address  
Alfred Abuhamad, MD, Executive Vice President of Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University and Dean, Eastern Virginia Medical School, will provide an update regarding the recent integration, followed by Q&A.

10:15 - 11:30 am: Changing How We Think about Difficult Patients for Alumni & Students, presented by Joan Naidorf, DO.
This session is open to all alumni, residents and enrolled students. Interact with other participants while long-respected physician, speaker and author Dr. Naidorf shares experiences and insights that will change the way we think about our patients.

11 am - Noon: Campus Tours
Choose from three different times to revisit your favorite spots on campus, as well as learn about our newest buildings and programs.

Noon- 3 pm: Alumni Family BBQ on the TowneBank Lawn
Enjoy a lively afternoon with a catered lunch by Mission BBQ, balloon animals and games for kids young and old, including live music under a tent on TowneBank Lawn.

6 - 9 pm: Class Dinners
Milestone reunion years ending in 4 and 9 are coordinating dutch treat dinners and gatherings in various locations around Hampton Roads. Cost isn't included in registration and a class ambassador will provide additional information.

Sunday, Oct 20: 

Noon - 4 pm: 36th Annual Fall Town Point Virginia Wine Festival
Join fellow alumni in a private, catered chalet for a day of wine tastings and exploring Virginia's best wines. 

All programming is tentative, and additional programming may be added. Registration costs will vary per event. Registration will open in late July and early bird rates will apply until Friday, September 30, 2024. Children are welcome to attend the Family BBQ and Campus Tours.

Costs for Class Dinners will vary by program. 

We have reserved blocks of rooms at three area hotels. You may also check out other hotels in downtown Norfolk and surrounding areas. 

Parking for on campus events is available in the Visitors Garage A located on Fairfax Avenue. Parking vouchers will be provided in your welcome packet for on campus events.

Children of all ages are welcome to attend the Family Barbecue. Please note that childcare will not be available during Alumni Weekend.

Alumni Weekend is a great way to connect with former classmates. It’s also a great opportunity to give back on behalf of your class in a way that is meaningful to you.

Alumni merchandise can be purchased at the campus bookstore located inside of Lewis Hall. Bookstore hours will be shared the week before the weekend.
