Explore Medical Student Education

All MS 2 students receive an introduction to ophthalmology presentation and a training session in the eye examination for the non-ophthalmologist physician. In addition, several discussion groups on various ophthalmology topics are offered throughout the year.

Medical Student Education

EVMS Ophthalmology has an elective rotation for EVMS Medical Students and Visiting Medical Students from other institutions.  1 student per block is accepted to work with residents and faculty at the Lions Center for Sight in Sentara Norfolk Hospital.  Visiting Students should seek additional information from the Office of Medical Education.

Lions Club

The Lions Club is the world's largest service organization. The EVMS Chapter of The Lions Clubs in District 24D serves the community by participating in Lions Assisted Medical Projects (LAMPs) in the Hampton Roads area. LAMPs typically involve vision, hearing, and diabetes screenings. Volunteers help with the screenings and fit patients for free eyeglasses, which come from the Lions Eyeglass Recycling Center in Chesapeake, VA. We are also currently working on a vision clinic at EVMS's student run HOPES clinic.
