As EVMS-Sentara Healthcare Analytics and Delivery Science Institute (HADSI) entered its third year, the world faced the SARS-CoV-2 virus, or COVID-19. Throughout 2020 and the pandemic, EVMS-Sentara HADSI continued to provide a collaborative framework for healthcare and analytics, along with translational research. With HADSI’s growing support and infrastructure, the center provided over $396,000 in pilot funding to researchers, which has resulted in huge scholarly achievements, yielding great financial and academic returns. In addition to this, the center has become an important and integral part of a statewide collaboration to look for statistical answers, prevention and eventual safe recovery from this virus.
Collectively, HADSI researchers and staff have come together with other institutions:
- To create a statewide registry to understand the impact of COVID-19 on our communities and health.
- To develop and support research to better understand the epidemiology, immunology, social/physical impacts, and health disparities of SARs-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19 disease.
