Why I Chose EVMS Emergency Medicine: I chose EVMS Emergency Medicine because of the people and fit. Despite a challenging and diverse patient population, the entire department is happy and enthusiastic. The faculty love to teach, the nursing staff is incredibly friendly and helpful and the residents took me in like family. Having spent four years of medical school living in Norfolk, my wife and I fell in love with the culture, food, breweries, and beaches here. There definitely aren’t many residencies where you can surf before or after a shift. All in all, it was an impossible combination to pass up.
