Our mission is to provide comprehensive training that integrates advanced medical knowledge, cutting-edge research, and patient-centered care. We strive to cultivate an environment that encourages lifelong learning, professional development, and a commitment to improving the neurological health of the diverse populations that make up our community.
Through mentorship, collaboration, and a focus on holistic patient care, we aim to develop the next generation of leaders in neurology who will contribute to advancements in the field and serve the southeast Virginia region with excellence and integrity.
Aims
1. Continual Improvement: involvement in quality improvement projects, encouragement of goal-setting and self-reflection
2. Resident well-being: emphasis on work/life balance, capped work responsibilities, encouragement of extra-curricular activities
3. Systems-Based Practice: involvement in site or institution-wide committees, interaction with members of various medical disciplines on rounds and on committees, consideration of cost in all patient care
4. Scholarship: participation in research, attendance at regional/national conferences
5. Mentorship: faculty/resident mentor program, encouragement of resident/medical student interaction and teaching, encouragement of senior/junior resident mentorship and teaching.
