Ronald Flenner, MD, is Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, the James E. Etheridge Jr. Distinguished Professor and Professor of Medicine.

In his role as Vice Dean, Dr. Flenner is responsible for oversight of several student-focused areas including admissions and enrollment, student affairs, academic affairs, clinical education, clinical integration, educational assessments and evaluation, ultrasound education, community-engaged learning, remediation and the school’s student-run free clinic, HOPES.

Dr. Flenner also plays a crucial role in institutional processes and curriculum reform.

Dr. Flenner earned his medical degree from EVMS in 1989. He trained in internal medicine at the VCU School of Medicine and also completed a fellowship at VCU in infectious disease. In addition to his administrative responsibilities, Dr. Flenner continues to see patients as a board-certified specialist in infectious disease. He is a member of Alpha Omega Alpha, the honor society for medicine.
