Vincent Rhodes, PhD, APR, is Associate Vice President of Marketing & Communications overseeing public and media relations, content marketing, crisis communications, executive communications, creative services, digital media, branding and advertising. Dr. Rhodes also serves as an educator in the School of Health Professions’ Doctor of Health Sciences program.

Previously, Dr. Rhodes was Communications Manager and Clerk of the School Board for Norfolk Public Schools, the largest urban school system in Virginia and one of the top 150 largest school systems in the country. He also served as a high school teacher. Prior to becoming an educator, he worked as managing editor of the national scuba diving magazine Sport Diver.

He is currently Chair-Elect for the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC) Group on Institutional Advancement (GIA) Steering Committee and previously served on the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Hampton Roads Board of Directors.

Dr. Rhodes’ work has been recognized with a variety of awards from PR News, Vital Speeches of the Day, the AAMC, the PRSA, PRSA Hampton Roads, the National School Public Relations Association, the Florida Magazine Association and others.

He earned a Bachelor’s in Communications with a minor in biology from James Madison University, a Master’s in Professional Writing and Rhetoric from Old Dominion University and a Doctorate in New Media and Professional Writing from ODU.
