Welcome to the Division of Rheumatology at the Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS) at Old Dominion University. As one of the newest academic divisions at EVMS, established in 2023, we are proud to serve a growing community of patients while training the next generation of physicians in the field of rheumatology. Our team is deeply committed to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals with autoimmune and inflammatory conditions.
We serve as a referral center for a diverse population throughout Hampton Roads and beyond—including Medicaid, Medicare, and Veterans Administration patients—and work closely with our pediatric colleagues to ensure smooth care transitions for young adults with childhood-onset rheumatic diseases. We also provide inpatient consultation services at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, ensuring our patients receive comprehensive care across all settings.
As a division, we are dedicated not only to excellent clinical care but also to advancing medical education and collaborative research. Our providers care for a wide range of rheumatic diseases using the latest diagnostic tools and therapies, and we work closely with other specialists to support the complex needs of our patients. We are actively engaged in teaching medical students and residents and are planning to launch a rheumatology fellowship program in the near future. Our goal is to create a warm, collaborative environment where innovation, learning, and patient-centered care thrive.
Thank you for your interest in our division—we invite you to explore our website to learn more about our services, our team, and how we are working to improve rheumatologic care in our region.
