Mr. Crews holds the rank of Associate Professor at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk, Virginia.  He directs the only master's program for Surgical Assisting.  Mr. Crews has served as grant manager and PI for a variety of federal and private research grants.  As a researcher, he managed teams of researchers across the United States, developed research protocols across multiple study sites, and presented research findings at national conferences convened by the CDC, CMS, APHA, Men's Health Network, and other private funding foundations.  Mr. Crews also served as a Commissioned Officer in the U.S. Public Health Service where he created SOPs for job classifications and detailing of officers for the Office of the Surgeon General.  Working with the National Surgical Assistant Association, he coordinated the study to include the Surgical Assistant profession in the ONET profession classification database.  He serves as the Executive Director of the Virginia Association of Surgical Assistants and serves on numerous boards and committees, and haas publications in peer-reviewed journals.
