Dr. B. Mitchell Goodman was born and raised in nearby Franklin, Va. He completed his undergraduate education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill before earning his medical degree from Eastern Virginia Medical School. 

He went on to complete a residency in Internal Medicine and a chief residency at EVMS as well. Dr. Goodman has served as Program Director of the Internal Medicine residency since 2012.

In addition to his commitment to medical education, Dr. Goodman has a special interest in hospital medicine and serves as Chair of Internal Medicine at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. He also is Section Head of Hospital Medicine within the EVMS Department of Medicine. Outside of work he enjoys spending time with his two children and various types of sports and exercise.
