Office of Business Intelligence

About Us

The Office of Business Intelligence (BI Office) at the Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University serves as the strategic backbone of data-informed decision-making. Founded in response to the transformative merger between Old Dominion University (ODU) and Eastern Virginia Medical School (EVMS), the BI Office was established to unify, centralize, and elevate the use of data across Brock-VHS. Currently, the BI Office is focused primarily on EVMS legacy schools but plans to expand its support to other VHS colleges/schools in the future as resources become available.

Our mission is to empower leaders, faculty, and stakeholders with insightful analytics, streamlined access to reliable data, and trusted reporting tools. By collaborating across all Brock-VHS schools, colleges, and departments, we centralize Brock-VHS data, develop interactive dashboards, and cultivate a strong culture of decision-making grounded in trusted data.

The Office oversees the development and continuous refinement of an administrative-level centralized data infrastructure that houses vital data in consistent, reliable formats. The BI's long term objective is to lead the creation of Brock-VHS data governance processes and actively monitor stakeholder compliance to ensure integrity, transparency, and accountability. This work—grounded in the integration of data from across legacy EVMS—lays the foundation for a scalable, transparent, and forward-thinking analytics environment across Virginia Health Sciences.

At the core of everything we do is a belief that better data leads to better decisions—and that informed decisions shape a stronger future for Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences.
