Pap Test
The Pap test, which can be performed by either your family physician or gynecologist, is the most important annual screening test to detect early evidence of cervical cancer and other infections and cervical abnormalities.
Colposcopy
Colposcopy is a diagnostic tool used for further evaluation of abnormal Pap tests. It uses a special magnifying device called a colposcope that allows the doctor to find problems that cannot be seen by the eye alone.
Loop Electrosurgical Excision Procedure (LEEP)
This procedure uses a thin, low-voltage electrified wire loop to cut out abnormal tissue that is often detected during a colposcopy.
Hysteroscopy
During a hysteroscopy,a thin telescope is inserted through the cervix into the uterus to detect any fibroids or polyps that may be causing excessive bleeding.
Endometrial Ablation
Endometrial ablation is used to treat heavy, irregular periods by using radio frequency energy to permanently remove the lining or endometrium of the uterus.
