Military Awareness Training

Learn how to interact with military members, veterans and their families.
Michele Johnson, East Regional Director for Virginia Veteran and Family Support Services within the Virginia Department of Veterans Services, will present “Military Cultural Competency and Transition Awareness: Working with Service Members, Veterans and Their Families.”

The virtual training will provide an overview of military culture, including military organization, prevalence of suicide among service members and veterans, and guidance on behavioral health, treatment options and resources.

The training is a collaboration with the EVMS M. Foscue Brock Institute for Community and Global Health, the EVMS Physician Assistant program and the EVMS Military Medicine Club.
