Educational Grand Rounds: "Deconstructing Racism and Advancing Health Equity: Guiding Principles for Inclusive Curriculum Design"

In the context of current U.S. racial justice movements, analysis of racism in medicine within medical education is a critical task for all institutions. To educate the next generation of physicians about racism in medicine and health equity, longitudinal curricular analysis is an approach that can result in identifying an institutions gaps and steps forward to make change.  Through multiple publications, guiding principles for inclusive curriculum design have emerged and are a path forward. In this Grand Rounds, we will describe Boston University School of Medicine’s approach to deconstructing racism in medical education and the outcomes since initiating this work.  We will share key curricular approaches and national resources that can be used by any medical schools in addressing racism in their learning environment.
