Deadline for flu shot

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), flu causes millions of illnesses, hundreds of thousands of hospitalizations and thousands of deaths every season.
CDC advises that routine influenza vaccination of healthcare workers every influenza season can reduce influenza-related illness and its potentially serious consequences.
EVMS is committed to implementing these recommendations, and as such is requiring all healthcare personnel to be vaccinated by Dec. 1, 2023. Healthcare personnel are defined in the Influenza Vaccine Policy as EVMS students, visiting students or other visiting trainees, temporary agency personnel, volunteers, and independent contractors who provide patient care services, work, conduct research in, and/or attend educational instruction, in Clinical Care Areas.
The flu shot is strongly recommended for all non-healthcare personnel. This is the right step to take in order to safeguard the community, our patients, our families and each other.
