    • Dr. Palmer joins the EVMS Glennan Center after serving as Clinical Director of Geriatric Medicine and Vice Chair in the Department of Internal Medicine at The University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. From 1994- 2008, Dr. Palmer served as the Section Head of Geriatric Medicine at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland. He received his medical degree from the University of Michigan Medical School in Ann Arbor; and completed an Internal Medicine Residency at the Los Angeles County, University of Southern California Medical Center. He completed a Geriatric Medicine Fellowship at UCLA where he also received a Masters of Public Health (MPH).

      Dr. Palmer is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine and is a Diplomat in Geriatric Medicine. He has received numerous awards including the Special Recognition Award from the American Geriatrics Society in 2009 for service on Clinical Practice and Models of Care, Top Doctor Recognition Awards, Teacher of the Year in Geriatrics from the Cleveland Clinic, and he has been a presenter at the White House Conference on Aging on Geriatric Healthcare Workforce Issues.

      Dr. Palmer’s research interests include reducing functional disability in hospitalized elderly patients, improving transitions of care across the care continuum and patient safety. His clinical interests include treating patients with memory loss and frailty and performing geriatric assessments.
