For the first time in EVMS history, women will lead all three of the institution’s volunteer boards simultaneously. Beginning July 1, women will serve in the top posts for the EVMS Board of Visitors, EVMS Foundation Board of Trustees and EVMS Alumni Board for fiscal year 2021.

Dr. Emory, pictured above, was appointed to the board in 2015 by the Senate of Virginia and will be the second woman to serve as Rector.

The second woman to lead this board, Ms. Baldwin also serves as Co-Chair of its Capital Campaign Steering Committee.

“This may seem like a remarkable coincidence,” says Richard V. Homan, MD, President and Provost of EVMS and Dean of the School of Medicine, “but it is actually a natural and purposeful progression as the composition of our boards has evolved over the years. On behalf of our EVMS faculty, staff, students and residents, I am grateful that these three leaders will be overseeing the vital work of our institution.”
