Kala Perkins-Holtsclaw, EdD, recently joined EVMS as Assistant Vice Provost for Strategic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness.

“Dr. Perkins-Holtsclaw comes to EVMS as a seasoned higher education administrator with a proven track record of excellence in strategic planning, accreditation and continuous quality improvement,” says Elza Mylona, PhD, Vice Provost of Faculty Affairs and Institutional Effectiveness. “She will be leading the Office of Strategic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness. She will also be serving the Department of Dermatology as an Assistant Professor.”

Dr. Mylona adds that the Office of Strategic Planning and Institutional Effectiveness will be expanding under Dr. Perkins-Holtsclaw’s leadership and direction.

The Office supports the achievement of excellence in medical and health professions education, research and patient care through ensuring the use and demonstration of assessment and institutional effectiveness processes.

More specifically, the Office supports institutional stakeholders in the engagement of outcomes assessment for academic programs and administrative units, leads institutional-level strategic planning initiatives and progress reporting, advocates for the utilization of accurate and reliable data for data-informed decision-making, provides expertise and support in SACSCOC accreditation initiatives and fosters an overall institutional culture of continuous improvement.
