head shot of Mr. Wang

YuChia "Timmy" Wang, MD Class of 2024, is one 50 recipients of this year’s Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Carolyn L. Kuckein Student Research Fellowship. The award aims to foster the development of the next generation of medical researchers.

“It was an absolute surprise and an unbelievable honor to receive this prestigious award,” says Mr. Wang. “It would not have been possible without the many people supporting me personally and professionally.”

The fellowship provides $5,000 to support the recipient’s research efforts. Mr. Wang plans to use the award to fund his research on shoulder arthroplasty in multiple sclerosis patients.

“I am humbled and grateful for this opportunity,” Mr. Wang says. “I hope this fellowship will help further my growth, not only as a scientist and physician, but also as a leader.”

The fellowship program is in honor of Carolyn L. Kuckein who was a long-time administrator of AOA and an honorary member of the society, who died in 2004. Only one student per school is allowed to apply to the fellowship each year.
