A fisherman who experienced burns over 80 percent of his body is heading back to his home in China thanks in part to the care he received from EVMS surgeons.

Shi Dong was injured in an explosion aboard a commercial fishing boat off the East Coast. His uncle died as a result of his injuries.

Fortunately for Mr. Dong, he ended up in Norfolk under the care of Jay Collins, MD, Professor of Surgery at EVMS and Medical Director of the Trauma Center at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, and his team.
