Monday, July 25, was World Embryologist Day — a day dedicated to honoring the scientists and clinicians working in reproductive medicine.

Liang Yu, Associate Professor in the School of Health Professions and the Director of EVMS Reproductive Clinical Science, says it’s a day of important and well-deserved recognition.

“There are close to 100 RCS students at EVMS, both in the master's and PhD programs, who are working in IVF labs and fertility centers worldwide today and are taking care of infertility patients now,” says Dr. Yu, noting that the EVMS program recently celebrated its 20th anniversary.

Yu adds the recognition of the behind-the-scenes effort of clinicians, researchers and scholars who work as embryologists helps shine a light on “an exciting and admirable career helping millions achieve family goals with babies.”
