According to the American Psychological Association, in 2021, 3 in 5 employees reported negative impacts of work-related stress, including lack of interest, motivation, or energy and lack of effort. Meanwhile, 36% reported cognitive weariness, 32% reported emotional exhaustion and 44% reported physical fatigue.

That’s why EVMS is pleased to offer a new type of paid leave that allows employees to make time for the activities, people and places that help them refuel.

Beginning July 1, 2022, eligible EVMS employees will get two paid Wellness Days per year. These days can be taken for any reason and are not subject to the EVMS attendance policy. Each fiscal year, employees will receive one Wellness Day on July 1, to be used by Dec. 31, and a second Wellness day on Jan. 1, to be used by June 30.

Wellness Days must be used in full increments and cannot be carried over from one fiscal year to the next.

We strongly encourage employees to be mindful of staffing issues unexpected absences may cause and to provide supervisors with advanced notice when using Wellness time. We are supportive of employees using this new paid leave when needed, but we also must ensure that doing so does not jeopardize our ability to operate. While obtaining supervisor approval is encouraged, it is not required. Employees who utilize Wellness leave without prior approval will not receive an occurrence under the EVMS Attendance Policy.
