Feb. 22-26 marks Resident and Fellow Appreciation Week. Graduate Medical Education officials say it's a time to honor those who play an integral role in the health care team.

“Resident and Fellow Appreciation Week is intended to recognize and honor physicians in residency and fellowship training for their dedication to the care of patients, the impact on the health of our community, and participation in the advancement of the science of medicine,” says Linda Archer, PhD, Vice Dean for Graduate Medical Education. “These young men and women are the future of medicine and are a vital, yet under recognized part of the healthcare system.”

The week culminates with Thank a Resident and Fellow Day on Friday, Feb. 26. If you would like to say thank you to a resident or fellow, send your message here and it will be shared on EVMS social media channels.

While the official appreciation week ends on Friday, Dr. Archer hopes the effort will continue all year long. "I may be biased but I believe every week should be Thank a Resident Week."
