Andrew D. Plunk, PhD

Dr. Plunk is an Associate Professor in the Division of Community Health and Research within the Department of Pediatrics. He also serves as Director for Community Outreach and Partnership. Through this role, he leads the Community Inclusion and Health Equity (CIHE) Initiative to promote health equity through community engagement.
Dr. Plunk serves as the PI for several NIH-funded studies. Trained as an ethicist and epidemiologist, his research builds on relationships and infrastructure established through strong community engagement. His studies are focused on the impacts of policy on a variety of health, social and economic outcomes, especially on traditionally marginalized or otherwise vulnerable populations. Dr. Plunk earned his PhD in Health Care Ethics from Saint Louis University in St. Louis, MO. He also holds a Master’s in Public Health from Missouri State University.
