Helping women build a better future.

About us

Community Oriented Reproductive Health (CORE) is all about bringing our community together. Join local community members, businesses and health providers from Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old Dominion University to develop strategies that honor everyone's culture and meet our community needs.

Your voice matters - let's make a difference together.

Join our wellness study - your opinion counts!

Are you a woman 18-45 interested in improving your health and wellness? CORE can help you with support and guidance for a healthier future.

We've teamed up with CVS Health on a new wellness study for women. Our goal is to help improve the health of women in our community and improve future pregnancy outcomes.

By joining this program, you’ll be part of research that aims to make pregnancies better for women in your area. This could help reduce problems and improve health for both moms and babies.

To join the study or learn more, email us or call 757-446-0529.

Women and babies in our community are precious to us

In 2022, the Virginia Department of Health found that of the 95,615 live births:

  • Nearly 1 in 12 babies are born with low birth weight (less than 5.5 lbs)
  • Nearly 1 in 10 were born early

Among black women in Virginia, there are concerning rates of maternal mortality and preterm births.
