Story Date: Mon, 09 Jun 2014 10:31:00 CDT
The medical center will host an emergency preparedness demonstration this Wednesday, June 11. The event will take place from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on the campus green in front of Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and Children’s Hospital of The King’s Daughters (CHKD).
The event will include a medical “tent city” that will showcase the portable hospital facilities that could be deployed in response to a large-scale emergency. Posters and other displays are designed to raise awareness among students, staff, clinicians and immediate neighbors of their role in emergency preparedness. There will be information about personal and campus hurricane preparation just in time for the Atlantic Hurricane Season, which runs June 1 – November 30.
The event also will highlight the cooperation of campus partners in daily patient care, facility management, public safety, parking, emergency communications and unified response to a crisis.
All activities are free and open to the public.
