Dr. Deaver honored by American Art Therapy Association

The American Art Therapy Association has honored Sarah Deaver, PhD, ATR-BC, a Professor and Research Director in the EVMS Graduate Art Therapy and Counseling Program, with its Distinguished Educator Award.
The award is presented to a professional member of AATA who has made outstanding contributions to educating professionals in the field of art therapy. Specifically, it acknowledges her exceptional teaching and development of innovative educational practices.
At EVMS, Dr. Deaver educates art therapy students in the areas of assessment, research methods, and ethics and professionalism.
Her achievements are not only recognized by the AATA, but also by EVMS faculty. “Dr. Deaver has been a valued member of the art therapy faculty for more than 23 years,” says Mary Roberts, EdS, ATR-BC, director of EVMS’ art therapy program. “She continues to inspire students and colleagues to reach new heights in clinical practice, research, and education. It is my sincere pleasure to congratulate Sarah and an honor to work with such an esteemed member of our profession.”
Dr. Deaver also serves as President of the AATA.
