The National Library of Medicine (NLM) is a public website featuring MedlinePlus, current health news, online exhibitions about the NLM and reliable health information from the NLM.

MedlinePlus is the NLM's and the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) consumer health database. It features extensive information from trusted sources on over 700 diseases and conditions.

The Medical Library Association's top health websites identifies useful health websites.

The Consumer and Patient Health Section (CAPHIS) features the Medical Library Association (MLA) top 100 consumer health websites.

Since 1997, Healthfinder has been recognized as a key resource for finding the best government and nonprofit health and human services information on the internet. It comes from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

NIH Health Information is a consumer health portal that allows you to search by health topic or browse by category.

Find a clinical trial is run by the NIH and the NLM. This site provides information about federally and privately supported clinical research trials including the purpose of the trial, who may participate, locations and contact information for more information.

Health Smart Virginia is a source of free and low-cost lesson plans encompassing grades K-10. Health Smart Virginia is the result of a partnership between the Virginia Department of Health, the Virginia Department of Education, Prince William Network and Eastern Virginia Medical School.

Schedule a training session

Through the Brickell Library Outreach Initiative, EVMS librarians have provided the region’s public librarians and the public with free training on how to access health information. In the past few years, thousands of people have attended EVMS classes at Hampton Roads public libraries, senior centers and health fairs on how to find health information.
