Zika Virus a Global Health Emergency: Mosquito Control Service Learning Project

During the presentation, staff, students (Including EVMS-ODU MPH students), and community partners will discuss the opportunities and learning experiences that the program offered during the summer 2016 term. In addition, there will be a platform to explore the importance of prevention efforts in regard to controlling the Zika Virus locally and globally. Critical Health Care Needs in Hampton Roads & How to be Part of the Solution

Join us for an exciting lecture by Dr. Heidi Kulberg, a former EVMS-ODU grad! Dr. Heidi Kulberg is currently the Virginia Beach Health Director. Before becoming the VB Health Director, Dr. Kulberg was the deputy health director for Chesapeake. Dr. Kulberg was a family physician with the U.S. Navy for 10 years in Pensacola, Fla.; Yokosuka, Japan; Naples, Italy, and Portsmouth Naval Medical Center. She volunteered at the Chesapeake Care Free Clinic from 2007 to 2009, worked at Planned Parenthood of Southeastern Virginia in Norfolk from 2006 to 2009, and at the Chesapeake Health Department since November 2009. She often lectures in the public health and family and community medicine departments at Eastern Virginia Medical School in Norfolk.
Dr. Kulberg earned a dual bachelor’s degree in biochemistry and Russian and Soviet studies, and a medical doctorate from the University of Arizona, as well as a master’s degree in public health from EVMS and Old Dominion University.
