EVMS Pediatric Residency at CHKD
The EVMS Pediatric Residency Program at Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters (CHKD) is a three-year program, accredited by the ACGME, leading to certification in General Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics. Our goal is to provide trainees with an enriching experience that allows growth and development on both professional and personal levels.
Our residents have the opportunity to manage a wide variety of acute and chronic pediatric pathologies as well as common and rare disorders. This experience is enhanced through clinical teaching in both inpatient and outpatient settings, an innovative and personalized residency curriculum, and numerous research, academic, or advocacy opportunities.
Program graduates are prepared to enter into a successful career in primary care pediatrics or continue their training in a fellowship program. SEE OUR EXCEPTIONAL FELLOWSHIP MATCHES FROM RECENT YEARS!
HAVE YOU HEARD?
The doctor is in...the Governor's mansion! Our very own Dr. Ralph Northam, EVMS graduate and Pediatric Neurology attending, was recently inaugurated as the Commonwealth of Virginia's 73rd Governor.
CHKD recently earned FULL status as the only free-standing level 1 pediatric trauma center in Virginia (read article). We are excited about the additional curriculum opportunities this offers our trainees.
