Application Process

All applicants for the Ophthalmology Residency Program must register and submit an application through the SFMatch Central Application System. Once registered, you can view our program listing on the SFMatch directory website.

Applications are due by October 1. Personal, on-site interviews are required and are granted by invitation only. Candidates invited to interview will be requested to submit a photo and supplemental application. Applications received after October 1 will be considered for interviews on a space-available basis. Twelve to 15 candidates are invited to each interview session.

Interviews are conducted on a Friday and Saturday during December.

Interview Day

The interview day starts with breakfast and an overview of the Ophthalmology Residency Program by the Department Chair and the residents. The candidates are then interviewed by several faculty members in a group interview setting.
