    • Department of Family & Community Medicine and the Department of Internal Medicine support and require a research project, and American College of Physician abstracts submission during residency (2)

    • Osler Rounds
      • Ghent Family Medicine
        Osler Rounds provide senior residents the opportunity to focus on medical student teaching during continuity clinic at Ghent Family Medicine.  By having fewer patients on their schedule on these select afternoons, residents have additional time for discussions on patient-centered care, medical decision making, and approaching the patient from a biopsychosocial model perspective.
  • Community Outreach
    • Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters – Evening ambulatory clinic provides year-round opportunities to work 1-on-1 with academic pediatric generalists treating underserved populations in the community.
    • Western Tidewater Free Clinic
    • Sports Physicals at multiple local public and private schools.
    • Every Woman’s Life
      • Supported by a CDC grant, combined, internal medicine and transitional residents provide breast and cervical cancer screenings to underserved patients.
    • HOPES Clinic
      • H.O.P.E.S. (Health Outreach Partnership of EVMS Students) Free clinic is staffed by EVMS students, residents, and physicians.  H.O.P.E.S. serves uninsured citizens of Norfolk with long term and specialty care.
