Sleep Medicine Fellowship Mission Statement

The overall mission of the Sleep Fellowship Program at Eastern Virginia Medical School is to educate fellows to provide the highest quality of care to patients, demonstrate excellent clinical skills, and to always be cognizant of safety measures and preemptively apply them.


On completion of the training, the fellow will be able to:


  • Demonstrate excellent clinical skills and provide the highest quality of care to patients
  • Practice all aspects of Professionalism
  • Communicate with patients and their families and educate them when necessary
  • Teach and share knowledge with residents and other learners, and collaborate with colleagues and other health care professionals
  • Demonstrate commitment to scholarly pursuits through conducting and evaluating research
  • Value a philosophy of life-long learning and quality improvement as a necessary prerequisite to maintaining state of the art medical knowledge and skills
  • Practice independently, ethically, cost effectively, and competently in the discipline of Sleep Medicine
  • Be well positioned to pass the Sleep Medicine Board Examination
