Why Family Medicine: I had great role models while on rotations who were so skilled at forming relationships with their patients. They tackled their health problems while working tirelessly to connect them with resources. These physicians seemed genuinely fulfilled in both their professional and personal lives. I wanted to have the same fulfilment and balance and only found all those things in Family Medicine.

Why PFM: I was able to rotate at PFM as a 4th year medical student. The moment I stepped into the clinic, the upper level residents and attendings made me feel at home. PFM is unique in that we have the strong academic back of EVMS but are able to practice in an unopposed community setting. I wanted enough inpatient and clinic experience to ensure I could practice in a variety of settings.

Fun fact about yourself or hobbies: I am excited to explore Hampton Roads. It's vastly different from growing up in the mountains of Tennessee. I look forward to being within a half hour from a multitude of beaches (and fresh seafood). I enjoy anything outdoors and on the water. On Saturdays in the fall, I'm (loudly) cheering on my Vols.
