The current curriculum undertakes a blended learning approach, combining both traditional and asynchronous didactics with practice in multiple environments, from the simulation lab to the bedside under mentored practice, and finally to independent practice under quality assurance and quality improvement oversight.

The fellowship year is a summation of didactic and experiential components. The didactic curriculum is broken down into a block system.  Each of these blocks provides a monthly focus for the didactics, simulation and training sessions.  There is a global skills summative simulation based assessment mid-year and a final end of year.  The experiential portion of the curriculum is a mix of traditional ground based EMS care with equal parts special operations, including Air Medical, Tactical Medical and Search & Rescue.
