At EVMS, we are happy to help build a community of inclusion with our Safe Zone Program. Safe Zone programs promote support of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning/queer (LGBTQ) students, staff, faculty and residents through education and training to establish identifiable allies who are supportive, trustworthy and sensitive to the needs of LGBTQ individuals. Safe Zone aims to make campuses a safer and more accepting environment for all members of a community, regardless of gender identity and sexual orientation.
Please join us for our National Coming Out Day Event, featuring Dr. David Dorbad, M.D. on October 11, 2018. For more information, please contact Joann Bautti at firstname.lastname@example.org.
How to Become a Safe Zone Member
- Members attend a Safe Zone training, designed to increase the campus community’s understanding of and capacity to address issues faced by LGBTQ persons. It has been created to improve the institutional climate for student learning and personal and professional development.
- After attending a training, members display a Safe Zone sticker/button.
- Members do not need to be LGBTQ to participate.
