Safe Zone

This sticker symbolizes their commitment to act as a ally and resource for LGBTQ members of the EVMS community, to maintain confidentiality, and to encourage an atmosphere of equality and inclusion.

Safe Zone

At EVMS, we are happy to help build a community of inclusion with our Safe Zone Program. Safe Zone programs promote support of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and questioning/queer (LGBTQ) students, staff, faculty and residents through education and training to establish identifiable allies who are supportive, trustworthy and sensitive to the needs of LGBTQ individuals. Safe Zone aims to make campuses a safer and more accepting environment for all members of a community, regardless of gender identity and sexual orientation.

Please join us for our National Coming Out Day Event, featuring Dr. David Dorbad, M.D. on October 11, 2018.  For more information, please contact Joann Bautti at bauttij@evms.edu.

How to Become a Safe Zone Member

  • After attending a training, members display a Safe Zone sticker/button.
  • Members do not need to be LGBTQ to participate.
