  • Preferably no more than two (2) years old
  • Netbooks, Chromebooks, iPads and other tablets are not viable choices to meet the minimum standards
  • The operating system must be currently supported by the developer
  • Windows 7-10 and MacOSX 10.8.x-10.13.x will meet the requirements to access the campus network and are officially supported.
  • ExamSoft/Examplify will no longer support Windows 8 and Windows 7 will no longer be supported as of the end of the 2018 calendar year

The Network Information Center (NIC) recommends that students do not upgrade an operating system without prior confirmation of institutional compatibility

Browser Recommendations

  • PC: Microsoft Internet Explorer (Latest version), Firefox*, or Google Chrome
  • Mac: Safari version 11.1 or higher

The Network Information Center (NIC) highly recommends that students do not use beta versions of any browser

* Firefox is the suggested browser for viewing recordings on the EVMS video portal. This also requires the Microsoft Silverlight Plugin. Adobe Flash and Java are suggested plugins

Required Software

The following software is required for EVMS network access and functionality on campus:

  • Microsoft Office 2013 Standard Edition or higher**
  • Adobe Reader DC, Acrobat DC, or Acrobat Pro DC
  • Virus protection (McAfee is provided to full-time students upon matriculation)

** Free Access to Office 365 for Education may be obtained after enrollment in your respective program. Additional software may be available with a student account. Visit the myEvms portal "Student Software Download" section for more information.

Additional Recommended Hardware

  • External Storage Device - Large capacity jump or external drive for data backup***
  • CD/DVD Drive - Either External or Internal
